Residencies with Chinobay

Are you looking for programs that combine performance, education, cultural exchange, and community engagement?

Chinobay’s residency programs are designed for schools or communities that want more than a one-time performance. These residencies give students the opportunity to engage deeply with African music, culture, creativity, and global learning through hands-on workshops, collaborative projects, and performances.

With over 15 years of experience leading workshops and touring internationally, Chinobay has developed residency programs that focus on participation, creativity and cultural understanding. Students learn rhythms, songs, stories, and the cultural context behind the music.

Residencies can range from a single day to a full week or longer and can include:

  • African rhythm workshops
  • Kora demonstrations
  • Songwriting and composition
  • Cultural discussions and global education sessions
  • Instrument building workshops
  • Collaborative/culminating performances with students
  • Community concerts and outreach performances

Residencies can be booked as:

  • Solo (Stories Between Worlds)
  • Trio (African Strings & Acoustics)
  • Full Band (Wamu Spirit)
  • Custom collaborations with student ensembles
