Chinobay & The WAMU SPIRIT (Band)

Wamu Spirit is Chinobay’s flagship touring ensemble — a 6-piece band that brings together extraordinary musicians, creating a powerful and uplifting sound rooted in East African music traditions.

The music is led by the distinct traditional African instruments little known to the world, such as Adungu, Kalimba, Endongo, Kora, blended with percussion, guitar, bass, and vocals to create a pulsing infectious sound that is perfect for festivals, concert series, and performing arts centers.

Wamu Spirit concerts are energetic, engaging, and culturally rich — combining virtuosic musicianship, storytelling, and powerful rhythms that connect with audiences of all backgrounds.

AFRICAN ACOUSTIC TRIO

The African Acoustic Trio is an intimate acoustic project that highlights the beauty of stringed instruments and kalimbas from Africa, alongside other acoustic textures.

This project focuses on musicality, storytelling, and the intricate rhythms and melodies of East African music, presented in a format that works beautifully in listening rooms, theaters, universities, and house concerts.

The trio format allows for deeper interaction with the audience and more musical improvisation, making every performance unique.

STORIES BETWEEN WORLDS (solo)

Stories Between Worlds is an intimate solo performance by Ugandan musician Chinobay, featuring traditional East African instruments including the Adungu (Ugandan harp), Kalimba, and Endongo as well as those from other parts of Africa such as the Kora, Tama (talking drum) and balafon.

Through music, storytelling, and cultural context, Chinobay takes audiences on a journey between villages and cities; Africa and the rest of the world. His performances weave original compositions with traditional songs, as well as sharing stories and the history behind the instruments themselves.
